9 Sandals To Slide Into The Weekend With

Designer Shoes

IMAGE: @WALNUTCRUST FOR BAGAHOLICBOY

While we in Singapore all look forward to that beach/island/resort getaway (never mind the irony that we all live on an island surrounded on all sides by the sea), nothing completes that look better than a pair of fresh slides that you can wear practically anywhere and everywhere. Throw on a tee (or a singlet, shudder) and a pair of shorts and you’re good to go. Or pair them with socks and sweatpants for a look that’s definitely street. Either way, it works.

Now because here at Bagaholicboy we strongly encourage the whole more-is-more movement, we’ve put together 9 different slides, one for every day of the week, plus a couple of spares if you want to, you know, mix it up. From the affordably-chic to the uber-luxe, let’s just slide right in.

First up, a pair each from Bottega Veneta, Fendi and Gucci which all come with leather uppers that expresses each brand’s iconic signatures. For Bottega Veneta, it’s that Intrecciato weave (USD560 via Mr Porter) while Fendi’s familiar zig-zag pattern comes adorned in bright rainbow hues (USD595 via SSENSE). Finally, there’s Gucci’s red-hot #GucciGhost (USD425 via SSENSE) that’s recognisable even from afar.

From weaves to zig-zags, we now move on to slides decorated with a camouflage pattern, a huge logo and stars. Give it a think and you’ll probably guess where they are from. Yes, there’s Valentino camouflage (USD270 via MATCHESFASHION), the huge logo one from Moschino (USD355 via SSENSE) and stars, stars and more stars on Givenchy’s slide (USD385 via SSENSE).

From the pricey, to the not-so-bads, finally it’s time for the most affordable trio of the 9. Pretty basic, but no less stylish, these all-rubber slides won’t have you wringing your hands to the high heavens if they happen to float away on the outgoing waves either. There’s a pair from streetwear giants Adidas (USD33 via Mr Porter), one from indie sportswear house Fila (USD33 via Urban Outfitters) and lastly, one for the eternally hungry, a pair from Marc Jacobs (USD125 via SSENSE) that has a cute burger printed across the upper of the sandal.

Ralph Lauren introduces two new watches in RL67 Safari Chronometer collection

Other Brands

Ralph Lauren watches reflects the designer’s individuality and taste, and like him, they never go out of style. It represents a passion, a desire, and a dream. One such passion is his love for adventure as is evident from his RL67 Safari collection. According to the man himself “The romance of safari is a dream that I have returned to many times. It is an adventure, a world of refinement set against a rugged and powerful landscape.”

We first saw the Safari chronometer in 2013 when he launched the RL67 Safari Chronometer watch in both 45mm and 39mm case sizes. Rugged in design yet elegant, the durable blackened “aged” steel case holds an azuré anthracite dial finished with a matte varnish and finished with a faded olive green canvas strap that pays tribute to the visual accents of an explorer’s shoulder bag.

In February 2017, Ralph Lauren introduced two new models of the RL67 Safari collection in a larger 50mm size, which is one the largest in the market The RL67 Safari Chronometer comes in two options – the Safari Grand Date 50mm Camo Dial and the Safari Grand Date 50mm Black Dial.

The azure varnished camo dial timepiece much alike the original one features an “aged” steel case and showcases a dark olive green alligator strap. The Camouflage pattern is an extension of Ralph Lauren’s well-known ability to combine elegance and fashion with utility. This water-resistant chronograph is powered by the RL3105 self-winding chronometer movement with a power reserve of 42 hours. Being Ralph Lauren each movement is certified by the COSC, the independent Swiss testing center that adheres to rigorous standards to ensure the reliability and standards of watches.

The Safari Grand Date 50mm black dial model complements its “aged” steel case and azure matte-varnished anthracite dial with a “weathered” olive green canvas strap. Like its predecessor, the classic olive green strap pays tribute to an explorer’s shoulder bag and conveys the authentic spirit of safari.

Reading the dial is a breeze for both models with its large numbers and hour and minute hands are treated with black Super-LumiNova, which glows in the dark. An additional selection of canvas straps is available separately, including blue, black and faded versions known as “watered down” – all lined with leather. Ralph Lauren himself carefully selected the colors, each reminiscent of the spirit of safari and adventure. Not many know that when Ralph Lauren started out as a designer, he always dreamed of going to Africa. He says. “Safari is about living the life you want and pushing yourself beyond your limitations. It’s the dream of experiencing the wild and seeing the farthest reaches of the world.”

The RL67 Safari collection makes for the perfect couple safari watch. You can embark on your ‘Out of Africa’ experience with the handsome, rugged RL67 Safari Chronometer men’s 50mm watch while your partner adorns the RL67 Safari Chronometer 39mm watch. Decked out in a khaki shirt and cargo trousers and this chronometer, you will blend in perfectly with the foliage of the African savannah. Kitted to perfection with its rugged looks and precision mechanical engine, this is the ideal travel companion for your adventurous soul and one that will never go out of style.

Louis Vuitton x Fragment Singapore Pop-Up Exclusives

Louis Vuitton

IMAGE: LOUIS VUITTON

With mere days to go before Louis Vuitton opens the doors to their #LVFragment pop-up at Surrender Orchard Road, here are a couple of things you need to be updated on. For starters, streetwear legend and founder of Fragment Design, Hiroshi Fujiwara, will be in Singapore for the exclusive by-invite only launch party on 21 April 2017. Next, the Singapore pop-up (which will be the second city in the world after Tokyo to launch this special collaboration collection) will also be featuring some exclusive pieces that you won’t get anywhere else. Yes, guys, these exclusives are strictly limited edition and once they’re gone, they’re gone.

IMAGES: LOUIS VUITTON

Priced from SGD440 to SGD2860, there are 8 pieces in all that will only be available in limited quantities. For starters, there’s the Doudou Louis Bear everybody wants, along with the small Monogram Eclipse Nano Bag (click here to see it in its full glory) that is another must-buy. The other bag, the larger Cabas in black fabric, is limited to just 10 pieces, which also means it will be gone in a blink of an eye. Rounding up the exclusives, there’s the brooch set and carabiner key holder, as well as all the rainbow pieces which include the Hawaiian shirt, tee, bandana set and the bandana stole.

The pop-up opens to the public on 22 April and will run all the way to 7 May 2017, with exclusives and the general collection made available for sale. The only difference? Once the exclusives sell out, they will not be replenished. In other words, it’s time to start getting in line because once they’re gone, they’re truly gone.
