Spring-Summer 2017 Accessories Supreme

Other Brands

IMAGE: SUPREME

Mention Supreme to anyone and you’ll either get a blank look or a knowing smile. Yes, it’s THE brand that produces the most bizarre accessories and it’s something you either love, or hate. As for myself, I’m pretty new to Supreme, and began my collection a couple years back when I paid a premium to get some cool accessories (actually just a Supreme-branded hand grip and some badges) at a reseller store in Tokyo. I even queued (I don’t queue. Period) in the rain when I was in New York City last year in November just to get some goodies. It’s almost a quest of sorts. You know those apartments with Hello Kitty-branded everything? I want mine to be branded with everything Supreme. Get it?

And while I was fortunate to get some pieces from their F/W16 collection, I have my doubts regarding scoring anything from their upcoming S/S17 collection, especially with Louis Vuitton’s latest collaboration that must have surely made the brand more ‘mainstream’ than ever before. Still, I’m hopeful, and some of the pieces I want include what you see above, from Supreme-branded metal storage boxes (oh yes!) to a stool from Artek Aalto. There is the the pills ceramic tray, the beaded curtain (yes, crazy, I know) and even the pocket measuring tape that are definitely must-haves.

Now excuse me while I go plot hard on how to make it even possible and please wish me (and my wallet) luck.

To Buy This Collector's Watch, You'll Have to Get in a Long Line

Other Brands

There is nothing like hearing the word "no" to inflame the passions and desire of a collector, and few understand that concept better than Geneva-based independent watchmaker F.P.Journe.

In the world of high-end watchmaking, quality, scarcity, and availability (often the lack thereof) are vital parts of the equation. Journe utilized these brilliant tactics with the January release of the third (and final) part of a three-part series of watches: the Vagabondage III.

There will be just 137 of the price-upon-request timepieces produced—69 made in platinum, 68 in red gold—and similar to the first and second editions, each watch will feature the "Tortue," or tortoise-shaped case. The manual-wind watch has digital jumping hours at nine and digital jumping seconds located at six—a remarkable, boundary-pushing function that the watch world has never before seen. A central single hand indicates the minutes, while the 40-hour power reserve is shown by a gauge located at one o'clock. A transparent smoky sapphire dial completes the effect, beautifully revealing the intricate inner workings.

Interested in buying one?

"It's not that simple," Journe says. "Priority will be given to the owners of the Vagabondage II. Another option is to wait for one of these gentlemen to eventually withdraw, or buy a Vagabondage II, which can still be found at public auctions around the world."

In other words, good luck getting one. With 10 F.P Journe boutiques and additional retailers located around the world, the name Vagabondage may actually refer to the prospective client wandering from store to auction house, desperately searching for a way to get his hands on one.

Tiffany & Co. Sued for Allegedly Firing Employee Over Cancer Mutation

Other Brands

A former Tiffany & Co. ("Tiffany") employee is suing the famed jewelry company for allegedly pushed her out after she had her breasts and ovaries removed to avoid getting cancer. Lisa O'Rourke alleges in her suit, which was filed in November in U.S. District Court in Rhode Island, that the New York-based company discriminated against her because she carries a gene mutation that put her at high risk for developing cancer.

O'Rourke, 45, states in her complaint that in 2014, she "was appointed to the newly creating role of Director of Strategic Sourcing" for Tiffany at its manufacturing facility in Cumberland, Rhode Island. Just prior to her promotion, she claims that "as a result of genetic testing, [she] learned that she was at high risk for breast and ovarian cancer."

As a result, "In January and February 2014, [she] underwent multiple surgeries to address this risk. Because of complications [her] recovery was slow and she returned to work on May 12, 2014."

She claims to have informed Tiffany that there would be more surgeries "down the line." When the time came for a third surgery in July, O'Rourke said she was initially cleared to take another leave for the surgery, but "the day before the scheduled surgery [Tiffany's] Human Resource Manager, Karen Curtis, advised [O'Rourke] that she did not have enough accrued time for additional leave under the Family Medical Leave Act, and that she should delay her surgery or her job would not be protected."

Ultimately, O'Rouke alleges that Tiffany's "Human Resource Group Director informed [her] that she should proceed with the surgery and that her job would be available when she recovered from the surgery. [She] returned to work on August 11, 2014."

That October, O'Rourke alerted the company she would need to take another leave for the fourth surgery, and while it was approved, a month later, she was told her job was being eliminated. She asserts that she was offered a different job with less compensation and responsibility, which she turned down.

O'Rourke's attorney, Kathleen Hagerty, said it is a case of discrimination due to her genetic condition. According to Hagerty, the surgeries at issue were "life-saving," and as a result, Tiffany & Co. "needed to make reasonable accommodations.”

O'Rourke is seeking unspecified damages, back pay, punitive damages, and attorney's fees in connection with what she claims is a violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Chloë Grace Moretz for Coach Spring 2017 Campaign

Chloë Grace Moretz for Coach Spring 2017 Campaign

We see Chloë Grace Moretz as the shiniest star of a Coach ad campaign again, with her fresh-faced beauty now being featured in the newly unveiled Coach spring 2017 campaign. There are also two other main protagonists  in Coach’s spring 2017 campaign, which are the label’s spring 2017 accessory line, as well as the city of New York, the iconic skyline and internationally recognized importance of which could be regarded as one of America’s most significant symbols.

Chloë Grace Moretz for Coach Spring 2017 Campaign

The idea of choosing both Chloë Grace Moretz and New York as the campaign’s focal points is one of Coach’s ways of paying homage to both its own city, and to the new ventures the label is currently undertaking, namely those of lessening the distances between its younger audience, while at the same time never stopping appealing to the one that has always looked forward to the label’s seasonal proposals to find something fancy yet wearable on a daily basis.

“Chloë has a sense of optimism that is the perfect juxtaposition to the New York City backdrop, Coach’s home city,” Coach’s Creative Director Stuart Vevers declared. “[Her] ease and effortlessness of style feels relevant and very Coach.”

Styled by Karl Templer and photographed by iconic Steven Meisel, the campaign juxtaposes Chloë Grace Moretz’ ethereal beauty with the city’s contemporary surrounding, using both Coach’s structured handbags, and Moretz’ feminine outfits as a way to harmonize the pictures with something that could be equally romantic and modern, also reflecting the aesthetics of the items.

Chloë Grace Moretz for Coach Spring 2017 Campaign

Both Coach’s men’s and women’s accessory lines for the upcoming spring 2017 season feature a harmonious mixture of urban-chic lines, as well as romantically colored fabrics, among which pink hues and more country-chic off-whites and yellows surely prevail. On top of that, most of the geometrically structured handbags Chloë Grace Moretz is showing off include fresh embellishments, such as festival-ready studded patterns and dangling adornments, which got highlighted by the backdrops of Manhattan’s infamous skyline.

As for the style inspirations the campaign overwhelmed us with, Coach carefully focused on both Nineties-inspired fashions, and more cosmopolitan boho ones, wisely alternating leather chokers with airy maxi dresses.

Chloë Grace Moretz for Coach Spring 2017 Campaign

We don’t know whether it is due to Meisel’s astounding skills when it comes to fashion photography or Chloë Grace Moretz’ easy-going beauty, but Coach indeed nailed this whole ad campaign thing, making us extremely excited about Coach’s springy proposals!
